Launched originally as a pop-up, Northern Kentucky’s Unataza Coffee has since expanded and is now in its second, larger and bright yellow brick-and-mortar shop in Dayton, Kentucky. Helmed by owner Alejandra Flores, a native of Honduras, the menu boasts a selection of single-origin Honduran coffees and Latin American bites. The drink menu spans expected coffeeshop staples, from cortados and cappuccinos to lattes, but also includes Flores’ favorites like café con leche, a golden latte with housemade turmeric syrup, and an out-of-this-world horchata. Unataza makes the blend of rice milk, toasted morro and pumpkin seeds, sugar and cinnamon in house. It’s a fresh and refreshing take on this classic beverage — not too sweet and you can add a shot of espresso for a novel take on a dirty chai. unatazacoffee.com.
